Following the Falconets’ fourth place position at the U-20 World Cup Coach Edwin Okon has expressed hope in the future of his girls.
“The girls really made me proud. Some situations will favour you and some will work against you, but it pleases God that way. I am not God and I cannot determine the outcome of events. I really appreciate the experience of working with this particular group of girls,’’ Okon stated.
In the same vein, the team’s assistant coach, Florence Omagbemi, noted that the girls were unlucky not to have won the third place match.
“We played better, but the Japanese girls were just fortunate. We also had a better ball possession. It is really difficult to explain, but it will be a better outcome next time,’’ the former Super Falcons captain said.
The Falconets crashed out at the semifinal stage, losing 0-2 to the United States and also lost the third place match 1-2 to the host country, Japan.
