Wikki boss defends sack of 15 players

 Chairman of Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Alhaji Sule Abdullahi Chindo, has explained the reasons for sacking 15 players. The team, last weekend, issued a statement confirming the sack of 15 players, while retaining 20 just as 10 new players are expected to join the team.
In a statement signed by the media officer of the club, Usman Abbas Shehu, Chindo said the sack was in view of the general evaluation of the players in the just- concluded 2011/2012 Premier League season by the Technical Department of the club.
According to him, the team had already contacted 10 tested players from various Premier League teams within and outside the country in an effort to ensure that the team commences the 2012/2013 league on a good note.
The Wikki boss used this opportunity to commend and thank the Bauchi State Government for its morale and financial support without which the club would have found itself in relegation.
Alhaji Chindo, however, appealed to government to release funds for the payment of players’ sign-on fees and other allowances for the 2011/2012 season and to release a substantial amount as a take off grant to enable the management start preparation of the 2012/2013 in good time.
The statement also commended the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) for ending the season well despite some hitches.
